Bycatch: All the fish and marine life killed in large industrial fishing nets and dumped back into the sea, through indiscriminate bottom trawling and illegal fishing practices.
40% of every fishing net is thrown back into the water. Discarded. We are not giving the ocean enough time to replenish. We need to care for our sea life, ourselves, and the fisher people who need a just transition to move away from unsustainable fishing practices. We are calling on the Irish government to introduce a minimum of 30% Marine Protected Areas by 2030 and an end to destructive trawling and overfishing.
