Ship visit and free paul watson protest
We were invited by the volunteers of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation to tour their anti-whaling ship the John Paul DeJoria, docked in Dublin for the month of July. Soon after our visit the ship left Dublin to take action against illegal whaling off the coast of Japan; in a dramatic turn of events Captain Paul Watson himself was arrested in Greenland when the ship stopped to refuel. For the next several months we joined the CPWF in campaigning for the release of Paul Watson, including protesting outside the Danish Embassy in Dublin. In December we were thrilled to receive the news that Paul had been released and was able to return to his family in France in time for Christmas. Paul’s case has not been settled however, and he remains unable to travel and pursue his activism at this time.
